Question 1

How compact is the DJI Mini 5 Pro?

Accepted Answer

The DJI Mini 5 Pro is designed with portability in mind, folding down to just 157 x 95 x 68 mm, small enough to fit into a jacket pocket or travel bag. When unfolded with propellers, it extends to 255 x 181 x 91 mm, maintaining a lightweight take-off weight of 249.9g. This compact build makes it easy to carry on trips while still offering advanced imaging and flight performance.

This drone may weigh over 250g once accessories such as propeller guards or ND filters are attached. It is the pilot’s responsibility to check the take-off weight before flying.

From 1 January 2026, new drones must carry a UK class mark (UK0–UK6), while existing EU C-class drones remain valid until 31 December 2027. Unmarked drones are treated as legacy and follow weight-based rules. Registration now starts at 100g: a Flyer ID is required for any drone at or above this weight, and an Operator ID is needed if it has a camera or weighs 250g+.

Remote ID becomes mandatory from 2026 for most class-marked drones and from 2028 for nearly all 100g+ camera drones. Flight permissions depend on class: UK0 (under 250g) and UK1 (under 900g) can fly over people (not crowds), UK2 (under 4kg) can fly near people with an A2 CofC, and UK3+ (under 25kg and above) must stay well away. All flights must stay below 120m, within visual line of sight, and follow UK CAA airspace rules.

Question 2

What is the DJI Mini 5 Pro suitable for?

Accepted Answer

The Mini 5 Pro is designed for creators who want professional-quality aerial imaging in a compact form. Its 50MP 1-inch CMOS sensor, 4K/60fps HDR and 4K/120fps slow-motion recording, plus advanced subject tracking, make it ideal for travel, vlogging, social media, and documentary-style content. With C0 certification in the EU, lightweight design, and robust obstacle sensing, it’s equally suitable for beginners looking for safe flights and experienced pilots seeking cinematic results.

Question 3

Does the DJI Mini 5 Pro have internal storage?

Accepted Answer

The DJI Mini 5 Pro has 42GB of internal storage, allowing you to start saving your creations without the need for external storage options. If more storage is required, the Mini 5 Pro is compatible with microSD cards.

Question 4

What is the difference between the DJI Mini 5 Pro and the DJI Mini 4 Pro?

Accepted Answer

The DJI Mini 5 Pro has a 1-inch CMOS 50MP sensor, while the Mini 4 Pro has a 1/1.3-inch CMOS 48MP sensor. Both drones can record up to 4K/60fps HDR video, but the Mini 5 Pro can record 4K/120fps slow motion video, exceeding the Mini 4 Pro’s 4K/100fps. Both support True Vertical shooting, but the Mini 5 Pro has a gimbal with 255-degree rotation for achieving a wider range of angles. The Mini 5 Pro’s upgraded Active Track 360 includes new Standard and Cycling options. It is now equipped with forward-facing LiDAR and has an extended battery life of 36 minutes rather than 34 minutes.

Question 5

What is the maximum wind resistance of the DJI Mini 5 Pro?

Accepted Answer

The Mini 5 Pro is built to remain stable in winds up to 12 m/s, which is approximately Force 6 on the Beaufort scale. This level of resistance ensures reliable flight performance in breezy coastal areas or open fields. Pilots should still use caution in strong gusts and follow on-screen prompts in the DJI Fly app.

Question 6

What does portrait optimisation technology on the DJI Mini 5 Pro do?

Accepted Answer

The DJI Mini 5 Pro has portrait optimisation technology that enhances the brightness, contrast, and skin tones in portraits. The technology works for group shots, solo shots, or candid moments for a more vivid result.
